Sri Lanka based Unwatuna Beach Resort has been re-launched as Calamander Unawatuna Beach during the weekend following a redevelopment drive.
Redeveloped with an investment of Rs. 350 million by Singapore based Calamender group, the four start hotel targets a clientele, who is able to pay at the USD 100-150 range per room night.
“We have invested heavily in the public areas, especially the beachside dining facilities, the new bar, and water sports, as this is what our customers come to us for”, said Roman Scott, Chairman and founder of The Calamander Group.
Apart from it, the standard amenities in all rooms include a double bed with 5 star quality mattresses, free Wi-Fi, a 32 inch flat screen TV, satellite channels with international news, sports and movies etc.
Tourists from Germany, Holland, UK, and Scandinavia have been re-branded Unwatuna Beach Resort’s largest customer base over the last 30 year period.
Calemander group purchased the Unwatuna Beach Resort by paying a sum of Rs. 1 billion before going into a Rs. 350 million refurbishment program.
The hotel was reopened with the participation of Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody.
