Singapore remains committed to Palestinian development efforts: Masagos Zulkifli

JAKARTA – Singapore has reiterated that it remains committed to assist the Palestinian National Authority’s capacity-building efforts.


Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli made the point in a speech today (March 1) at the second Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for the Palestinian Development.



Mr Masagos told the audience that Singapore had hosted a study visit by a delegation led by then-Palestinian Minister of Education Lamis Al Alami in June last year.


He added that Singapore is also working with the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission to organise a study visit to Singapore.


On the sidelines of the conference in Jakarta, Mr Masagos called on Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.


Mr Hamdallah expressed his appreciation for Singapore’s enhanced technical assistance package for Palestinian development which was announced at the inaugural conference meeting.


Mr Masagos welcomed more Palestinian officials to visit Singapore under the enhanced package and said Singapore remains happy to share its developmental experience in areas which may be relevant.


Both men also exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation, including water management and public administration. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
