SINGAPORE – Singapore Marriott Hotel has announced three new appointments this week. Rajesh Dewan has been appointed as the new director of Finance, while Pauline Ng joins the team as director of Sales and John Evans brings in the sweet spot as the executive pastry chef.
As a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Dewan brings with him more than 15 years of experience in the industry. He started his career at Hotel Yak and Yeti, one of the finest luxury hotels in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal, and has various stints in India and Singapore. Prior to joining Singapore Marriott Hotel, he was the director of Finance Business Support at the InterContinental Hotels Group. He plays a pertinent role in driving profit maximisation and business growth, as well as coordinating the hotel’s business plans and forecasting.
Ng joined the hospitality industry in 2000, bringing with her a wealth of sales experience. She will be working closely with Elaine Kum, director of Marketing, to drive the success of hotel sales and revenue. At the same time, Pauline trains young talents to equip themselves with what it takes to excel in this fast-paced industry. She was the assistant director of Sales – MICE at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore before joining Singapore Marriott Hotel.
Growing up, young Evans developed his interest in baking and pastry in Wales, when he started working for an Italian ice cream factory, which had a bakery on the top floor. He creates heavenly desserts using favourite ingredients such as chocolate and fresh berries, and has been showcasing irresistible cakes at Java+, the premium deli at Singapore Marriott Hotel. The Welsh chef, who recently moved to Singapore from his last stint at sister property, JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok, Thailand, has expressed how impressed he is with the world-class transportation system and lush greenery in Singapore.
