Preliminary September 2013 hotel data for Singapore

STR Global’s preliminary September data for Singapore indicates flat hotel performance in the key metrics of occupancy, average daily rate and revenue per available room. Based on STR Global daily data from September, preliminary data for Singapore includes:
• increases in supply (5.2 percent) and demand (6.3 percent);
• a 1.1-percent increase in occupancy to 81.9 percent;
• a 0.8-percent decrease in average daily rate to SGD325.50; and
• a 0.3-percent rise in revenue per available room to SGD266.49.
“Singapore continued to add rooms to its supply; growth rates have been highest since April 2011”, said Elizabeth Winkle, managing director of STR Global. “The city-state showed a stable hotel performance and held on to its rates in September, the month it hosts the Formula 1 Grand Prix which usually yields positive results”.
