2800 sheep, lambs arrive in Singapore for Hari Raya Haji

SINGAPORE — About 2,800 sheep and lambs have arrived in Singapore, ahead of Hari Raya Haji on Tuesday (Oct 15).

500 lambs from Canada have been transported to five mosques, after they complied with the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore’s animal welfare requirements.

Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim was also at the Changi Air Freight Centre today to receive 2,300 sheep from Australia.

The animals will be sent to mosques and Malay/Muslim organisations for the annual Korban rites.

These will be conducted at the 23 approved sites from Tuesday, after the Hari Raya Haji prayers. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
