Infinite Studios is located in one-north, an integrated research hub in the southwest of the city-state, and it will host a range of international companies, including Globecast Asia, Discovery Networks, the Japanese game-maker Namco Bandai, the global media company, Haymarket Media, and the international advertising agency MC Saatchi.

The high-tech facility, which is over 19 hectares, is due to be completed by 2020, and is central to Singapore’s efforts to promote itself as a media production hub in the region.

“The opening of Infinite Studios augurs well for Singapore’s media industry, which is growing from strength to strength, driven by developments in the Asian media sector, the growing sophistication of local film and television productions and the rising reputation of local filmmakers,” said Yaacob Ibrahim, Singapore’s minister for communications and information.

Ibrahmin said Mediapolis was a successful collaboration between four Singapore government agencies — MDA, JTC, Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) and the Economic Development Board (EDB) — and would be a home to a cluster of media companies across the value chain.

Infinite Studios features Singapore’s largest purpose-built sound stages, which were designed in consultation with Hollywood-based sound stage operator, Raleigh Studios. The two sound stages measure 10,000 square feet and 18,000 square feet, respectively, and are backed by 15,000 square feet of supporting production offices, as well as dressing and equipment rooms.

Managed and operated by Infinite Studios’ production services division, the sound stages are equipped to support productions that require intricate set builds, multi-cam operations and green screen technology for visual effects productions.

The facility was opened by the business space solutions provider Ascendas and its joint-venture partner, Citramas.

“Now home to 17 companies, Infinite Studios is testament to Ascendas’ commitment to create a differentiating advantage for our customers and provide a vibrant business hub for companies in the media industry,” said Manohar Khiatani, president and group CEO of Ascendas.
